While Germany has played a key role in the history of European integration, it has a long history to overcome the past related to the World War 2 and Nazi Germany. Almost all its neighboring countries have experiences to be invaded and annexed by Nazi Germany. To create new community in the way of European integration, Germany needed to take strong initiatives to construct trust with those countries. The project tries to clarify the factors and the process to facilitate reconciliation and build trust in Europe through a historical approach. Analyzing the history of reconciliation in Europe, the project also aims to find any implications for the current situation in East Asia.
